How Sheer Whisper Compares to the Scent That Inspired It
Short version: Sheer Whisper is our interpretation of the clean-skin style Phlur Missing Person made famous, independently formulated by our perfumers, at $40 for a 40ml Eau de Parfum.
Missing Person is loved for a skin-like, freshly-showered musk with a soft floral shimmer — the sort of fragrance people describe as smelling like a person rather than a perfume. That effect, not a note list, is what we set out to capture.
Sheer Whisper is built around the same idea with our own composition: bergamot and freesia in the opening, iris and jasmine sambac at the heart, and white musk, ambrette and sandalwood in the base. The iris is what keeps it from drifting into plain laundry-musk territory, and the ambrette gives the drydown a soft, slightly nutty warmth that sits close to the skin.
Where the two differ in wear: the original reads a little sharper and soapier in its first ten minutes. Sheer Whisper settles into its musk faster, which most people we have tested it with prefer for everyday use. Neither is a room-filler, and neither is trying to be.
On wear time, Sheer Whisper is formulated for 5–7 hour wear, in line with what wearers expect from an Eau de Parfum. On moisturised skin it will sit at the top of that range; on dry skin, nearer the bottom.
Who it is for: anyone who wants a clean-skin fragrance as an everyday signature, in a bottle worth leaving on a vanity, without paying designer pricing to find out whether the category suits them. If you are unsure, the Discovery Set includes a 10ml Sheer Whisper alongside our other two fragrances.
